​Chance Scholarship Policy

The Chance Scholarship Policy is a master policy that applies to all scholarships offered by Chance. Please note, each educational brand will also have their own school policies which will also apply.

Definition

Scholar means the student of the Chance scholarship programme​.

Parent(s) mean the parents of the scholar.

Schools mean the education centre of the participating brands.

Disclosure of relationship

​Chance is founded and operating by Babington Education Organisation, the owner of the Babington Education Centre brand.

The role of Chance

The role of Chance is ​the administrative work of assigning qualified underprivileged students to participating schools.

Chance is strictly not involved with the operation of the participating schools.

Any issues regarding the scholars learning should be resolved by the enrolled school.

Individual school policy​

Each brand will have its own school policy that will also be applicable to scholars.

The spirit of the scholarship programme
-
In order for the scholarship programme to sustainable and effective, we need to ensure that all scholars and families adhere to the spirit of the Chance scholarship programme.

This spirit is required to be exhibited not just by the scholars themselves but by their immediate family. Effort by the family will greatly increase the success of the scholar, thus we require the immediate family to also demonstrate good spirit to the scholarship programme.

Exhibiting good spirit include students and families displaying positive attitudes and behaviours.

The Pinky Promise

In exchange for the scholarship place, every scholar will need to give a pinky promise to give back.

This will be conducted at the centre by the centre staff.

A certificate will be issued to the scholar after the ceremony.

Make-up classes
-
No make-ups are allowed.

Fees
-
All fees are waived including tuition, materials, course membership fee.

Minimum attendance

80% minimum attendance.
-
Failure to meet minimum attendance means scholars will be put for review for termination of scholarship.

Centres should contact Chance in the event of scholars failing the minimum attendance.

Right to change class details
-
While changing class details is not good for the education of scholar, the centre will have the right to change class details such as class times, teacher and course.

Termination
-
Centres will work with families to prevent termination of scholarship places. However, in the event of termination, one month's notice will be given by the centre to scholars.

Rights to amend the policy​

Chance reserves the right to amend this policy at any time without notice.

In cases of dispute, Chance reserves the right to the final say.​

Taking photos and videos
-
Parents explicitly grant the taking of photos and videos of their children during class by either Chance or the applicable centre staff for the purpose of marketing or quality control.​

Parents or scholars will not be due any royalties or similar payments for the use of the scholar's photos or videos in marketing.

Indemnity​
-
Parents agree to indemnify Chance and save it harmless against any and all liabilities, including judgments, costs and reasonable counsel fees, for anything done or omitted by Chance in the execution of the Chance scholarship programme.
